Lessons

Lorna teaches in a positive and encouraging way, whilst still challenging the student to build on their existing skills and explore the wide repertoire available in all genres.

Music theory, scales, sight reading, technical exercises, performance skills and composing are also included in the lessons so that the student gains a rounded musical education. This gives the opportunity for creativity and increases engagement.

Although a classically trained musician, Lorna teaches all genres of music including classical, folk, musical theatre and rock/pop. Students are encouraged to develop their own musical interests and explore the different styles of playing fully. This way they are motivated to learn and achieve more.

ABRSM music exams are encouraged as they serve as a useful measure of progress as well as an excellent target to aim for. However exams are not for everyone. It is just as effective for pupils to learn simply for pure, personal enjoyment.

Lessons are available in 30, 45 or 60 minute slots but can be longer if required.

Weekly 30 minute lessons are ideal for young children and beginners as this maximises progress. Longer lessons are better for more advanced students and adult learners. Fortnightly, monthly, ad hoc or one off lessons are available to suit your requirements.

Parents are very welcome to sit in on the lessons if they wish to do so, (comfortable sofas and WIFI are available)

Lessons are taught all year round so you can continue to learn during the school holidays if you wish.
